Democracy in action

I’ve almost finished the squadron of Prussian Dragoons (all bar approximately 100 white buttons still to paint) and my thoughts are turning to what to start on next.

I was going to continue with the Prussian theme and tackle another infantry unit but then I started to wonder if I should work on some British or Allies to be ready for the Waterloo anniversary.

Then again some extra French would be nice just in case Roy shows up again with his Russians.

So as I’m not sure what to do next I thought I’d throw it open to the floor and conduct a poll (see opposite). Please enter your vote and feel free to leave any comments on this post in support of your choice. I can’t guarantee that I will observe the result (that would be taking democracy too far) but I promise I will at least consider your request!

I just realised that the voting options don't appear if you view the blog on a phone so here they are:

1. Highlanders (probably the 92nd)
2. Brunswickers (the easy-paint option!)
3. Old Guard Grenadiers (this would give me 2 Old Guard units)
4. French Curiassiers (the 2-piece castings)
5. French Guard Eclaireurs (these are lancers not cream cakes)

You can only pick one!

More French cavalry would be good when fighting the russians, or another guard unit.

Like napoleonic in square.

Yes, I suppose I'm a bit light on French cavalry (but Highlanders would be fun eh?).

Brunswicks, but don't forget the drybrushing to bring out the details in all that black. Really ought to get around to upgrading mine (Springwoods) someday.

Brunswickers for me Ian. Black/grey is not such an easy option to get right, but the results can look great :-)

Thanks for all the votes and comments chaps - at the moment it looks as if I will have to break out the tartan paint!

I'd go for the OG grenadiers . I think it would be good to have a guard division with ideally some Middle Guard Tirailleurs and Grenadiers too.

Ideally a unit of OG chasseurs would complement the grenadiers.
I'm not sure of the numbers of Guard cavalry that you have Ian, but it would be nice to see a combined HC regt and an LC regt. it may be that the eclaireurs are good choice.

Roy - I agree it would be nice to have more OG, as well as some marching grenadiers I have a unit of marines and a mixed young guard unit still to paint! For the cav there are horse grenadiers, Eclaireurs and red lancers in the lead pile. So much lead, so little time...

Voted for French Cuirassiers because they are my personal fave, and I wouldn't wish painting tartan on my worst enemy!

Well, I'm with Mr Anonymous. Has to be the Black Watch. When you've successfully completed a Highland battalion, anything else is child's play. And I speak as an ersatz child......
