I finally finished those Russian Jagers I started back in May and to celebrate have issued them with their colours. I have a couple of sheets of old REVO flags No24 Russian Inf 1813 bought way back when (see I told you Mrs S they'd come in handy some day). I'm not sure if the Jagers would actually carry colours but what the heck mine will.

Goya came over this week to christen my new Command & Colors hex cloth. I chose the battle of Elchingen simply because the map doesn't have much terrain and niether do I. I've wanted a CCN mat for years after Tony lured me into me into the game system with his magnificent hex table and terrain. Here are a few pics from the game, I won't bore you with a game narrative but suffice to say I was trounced 7 to 3 by Goya's Austrians.

| The hexes on the cloth are 120mm across the flats and neatly accommodate my movement trays. I only picked up the hill hexes from Warbases the day before the game and didn't have time to paint them. |

I will be working on adding further terrain for the hex cloth and finding a scenario that the French can't lose.

That Jaeger colour bearer is geat pose, I reckon your conversion is better than any HH ensign I've seen.

The ensign is superb - well done. Your hex mat is a cracker - once again I am wondering if someone would make me a 180mm version, but in my heart I know that a nice natural-look terrain mat would not fit well with my crude hand-made scenery pieces and my awful Old School bases - it wouldn't be sufficiently artificial and toy-like! It's the obvious way to go, but only if I were starting again, so for the moment I'll admire yours and distract myself with the occasional wonder!
How many husbands have used the phrase "that will come in handy one day"! Glad you proved the point, the colour bearer is fantastic. A great looking battle and nice to see the Austrians in action.
Tony, the cloth is nice but the process of getting it was tedious and not to be recommended. Interesting how a business can operate like a 1970s mail order company in 2026 but then this is a retro project! Your table and terrain is streets ahead of this.
Simon, CCN does give me the chance to get the troops on the table for a more casual game when visiting generals arrive. It’s also a good system for solo play.
He looks fabulous Ian. Your instinct was correct, the jager-snitzels (I always wanna call them that—a bit like your Noddys, which I can see, by the way) were not issued flags. BUT, we are wargamers, units are a representation and we DO flags! Flags with Prussian landwehr? You betcha!
A sensational looking game too, but we always get that from you.

As I see it, you have just given me permission to issue flags to my Russian Jagers, should they ever actually make an appearance! I really must try a CnC game with my Hintons. Certainly some old grognard will want to sell off their hex tiles at some point for a once in a lifetime bargain I can't pass up...
