More Yummy Eclaireurs

Well, that was a pun waiting to happen. You may remember that I have been gradually expanding my composite cavalry regiments to full 12-figure units of a single type. The last remaining unit to sort out are my combined Guard Lancers and Eclaireurs, so I have made a start on the extra six Eclaireur figures required.

FN308 Eclaireur Lancers of the Guard - WIP.

The trumpet player is a conversion from the basic figure using my tried and tested brass rod and Magic Sculp method. The horses are complete and another couple of painting sessions on the riders should do it.

One of my favourite regiments along with the Garde d'Honneurs. Well done.

Thanks Robbie, glad you like them!

Very nice indeed - impressive. For these detachable riders, do you syperglue them onto the bottletops? I would get fed up holding them in position while the glue dried, given recent experience. A couple of questions, s'il vous plait:

* What sort of glue do you use? (I find the gel-type Loctite superglue better than the liquid for some jobs now)
* Do you have a lot of tidying up of their feet to do, once they are painted and removed from the bottle tops?

Results are great, anyway.

These have to be one of the prettiest regiments - but they are not part of my 'plan', I must not succumb, I must not succumb, I must not succumb.
I shall just have to vicariously enjoy your regiment - looking forward to it.

Tony, I use regular superglue which I prefer to gel. It’s a bit of a fiddle getting them to attach but I prop them up with bluetack while they dry. I find it easier to paint horse and rider separately. Once removed from the bottle tops it’s easy enough to pick off any glue still attached to their feet. I touch up the paint on the boots after I’ve glued them to their horses!

Rob, of course my problem is that I don’t have a plan so I’m continually going off at a tangent!

They're part of my plan, but I wanted to see what you would do with them first. Looking very nice indeed!

WM, a clever ploy let your opponent deploy first!

Lovely work Ian…
Definitely one of my favourite units/uniforms…
I look forward to seeing the finished unit.

All the best. Aly

Aly, the uniform is nice but does have a slight Santa’s Elves look about it!

Yes, I had the same plan as Rob....give in, Rob, these fellows are irresistible.

Nigel, I agree with your recommendation to Rob as your own unit looks superb!

Fabulous Ian. Those Young Guard cavalry regiments had really attractive uniforms. The 2nd are the pick of the 'chocolate eclairs' for mine.
