Vintage Leipzig

Well it would appear that Roy is prepared to humour me one more time as I’ve just had confirmation from him that Vintage Leipzig is definitely on. He is beavering away producing Austrians to add to the hordes of Russians, Prussians and French already waiting patiently in their box files.

Leipzig is (next to Waterloo) one Napoleonic battle I’ve always wanted to refight but the sheer scale of the real event makes it daunting as a wargame. However, if it’s ever going to be done in 20mm Roy is the man to make it happen and once again we’ll be looking to put over 2,500 vintage figures (mostly Hinton Hunt) on to the table – or more precisely ‘tables’.

No firm date as yet but I would hope it will be during the summer – I’ll keep you posted

The prospect is mind-blowing - if (sorry, when) this goes ahead I would love to be there for a while, just to watch. When I was younger and madder, I spent some time fantasising about building up armies for that campaign, and it took a while to realise it was never going to happen. It has always remained a bit of an itch, though.

Could you fit Poniatowski with a temporary swim-ring, for the day?

Have suitable recruits that may be of use, if you`ve finished the last batch.

Tony - I'm sure we could squeeze you in or at any rate let you peer in through the window! BTW I have already created a small pair of Water Wings for Poniatowski...

Douglas - that sounds intriguing, I will be in touch!

If anyone has a supply or supplier of Austrian generals that would be really useful. Ian's rules use a lot of command and it would be good to have a few more for the Kaiserlichs!
As Ian says, we have the figures for the French, Russians and Prussians and his neat Swedes. We may need to do a few more Poles and the Imperials, but it is mostly in hand.

I have two generals and one cavalry command group who would be proud to serve if needed. I could make more.

Leipzig- oh, that will most certainly be a fabulous spectacle in 20mm Hinton Hunts. Good on you IAN. Regards. KEV.

I rounded out my Austrian command (and used the dispatch figure ANC11 for nearly everyone else) with this line. IIRC I sent Ian a sample of their mounted figures. They do match up in size.

Thanks for the comments - looks like Vintage Leipzig has struck a chord (but of course I knew it would!).
