Brandenburg Uhlans - Updated

Ten years since their first appearance on this blog (here) the Brandenburg Uhlans have been updated to a full unit of Prussian PN.89 figures thanks to the recent donation by Ian.

The front rank are my additions and the rear rank are the originals painted by Matthew in 2015.
Trying to match Matthew's work has been tricky and not just his superb detailing but also getting a colour match with acrylics to his work with enamels.

The rear rank showing the very neat piping on their jackets.

If this year has been the year of the Austrians then next year is shaping up to be the year of the Prussians.

They are quite superb, lovely looking unit and I can see what you mean by the detailing, really impressive and you have done a cracking job on the new recruits, they match the older ones really well.

Cheers Donnie, I’m pretty pleased with them.

The match is perfect, an A class unit if ever I saw one.

Thanks Rob!

Great work, a beautiful unit, for sure! I imagine you're going to enjoy working on the Prussians, a great variety of uniforms in that army.

Thanks Bob, even though I said I’d completed my Prussians a few years ago it looks like there will be more!

I still have PTSD about those. You've done a superb job Ian!

Ah Matthew you’re the one who did a superb job I just tried to copy!

A splendid body of men [and horses]. Can the Prussians be as colourful or are they all business?

Thanks Stephen, I think the Prussians can be surprisingly colourful but it all comes down to facing colours contrasting with that deep blue.

You would never be able to tell that these are painted by two different people and with different mediums, they look fantastic.

Ten years eh? and I'm sure I was following along back then! Superb unit Ian, you have done a great job of matching them up, spot on I'd say.

Thanks Simon, you’d be able to tell if you saw them up close!

Stryker said...

Yes you were Lee and before that too!

Just respect. You have achieved the impossible in matching Matthew's brushwork. I fear these are too pretty to charge mindlessly onto batteries....

Nigel if anyone could do it you can!

Better watch out Matthew, I think Stryker is vying for the crown! How does one get Matthew to paint figures for them by the way? I would be perfectly fine to be on the receiving end of such largesse (I actually have been - you know who you are and I thank you!)

David, in the old days WM could be tempted with vintage castings but not so sure he would fall for it these days!

I wonder if a good bottle of Scotch would work...

Ian is right, I'm afraid. I can be cajoled into doing flags sometimes, however, as I really enjoy doing those.

A perfect match methinks. Bravo to you both on this unit.

Thanks Matt.
