Allied Artillery

The Duke of Wellington and Lord Hill have been out inspecting the Allied gun line.

The two new Royal Field Artillery batteries are made up of:

2 x BN.140 Officer pointing, holding map
1 x BN.141 Gunner with porte-fire
1 x BN.142 Gunner ramming home
1 x BN.143 Gunner holding cannonball
2 x BN.144 Gunner holding hand spike for traversing
1 x BN.145 Gunner – ammunition carrier, running

This is now a substantial weight of artillery to deter any attack by the French.

Simply beautiful! That's a power to be reckoned with.

Thanks Lee, the allied artillery has been underwhelming for some time so I think I've put this straight!

oh My, a grand battery. You'll have the South Essx making a column attack next!

Roy, now that's a very good idea!

I think you're going to need bigger battalions after all, Ian. They look extremely intimidating all lined up like that. Lovely brushwork.

WM - they won't be quite so powerful when diluted along a proper battle line. I'm pleased with them though as I thought I would never get enough figures!

A Grand battery one might say.

Thank you for showing off the Allied gun line - it looks really scary but not having played M&M I not sure if it’s quite the meat grinder it appears to be... Really nice paint jobs but (excuse my OCD) are you going to retouch the RHA bases as they do stand out as different from the rest?

Stryker said...

Thanks Rob, the difference in the shade of green on the bases shows the progressive fall off in quality with Humbrol paints over the last few years. They have all been painted with Matt 80 but the older paint gave a much nicer finish and colour. It would be quite an epic job to repaint all the old bases!

To Rob, as one who has had the privilege of playing an M &M game, trust me, it is the meat grinder it appears to be. They look, and undoubtedly are, superb, Ian.

Thanks Nigel, we'll have to see how they get on in their first battle!

Great looking battery, should give the French a hard pounding.

Yes Paul, it's given the infantry a lot of confidence!

Lovely. All you need now is a lovely rocket battery to take the whole lot out!

They look good massed together.

On the subject of Humbrol I rememver there was also a grass green in the Humbrol Authentic range and that was a very nice shade of green.

Matt - sadly (or maybe just as well) Hinton Hunt never made a rocket set, although I had thought about scratch building one...

Stryker said...

Mark - it's very annoying how both the shade of green and the finish has changed over the last few years. The thing that get me most is that a paint advertised as matt should not be drying as blotchy satin!

All the best. Aly
