Now the dust has settled on the recent campaign and the soldiers are back in their ‘Really Useful’ cantonments, it’s time to return to the expansion of the Imperial Guard cavalry. I have painted five of my modified DK Horse Grenadiers and just need to finish them off with a trumpeter.
I’m pleased with these, and I think it was worth the effort to increase their height, I also think that the replacement swords make them look more menacing and guardsman-ish. I’m pretty sure they will blend in well when based up next to the two-piece castings.

Thye are very, and a bit scary after seeing what just eight cuirassiers coud do when riled.
Tony, the colour is Foundry 3B Orange which was the closest match I could find.
Rob, just wait until I get my other two units of Cuirassiers finished!

Interesting that you have copied the original swords which are more sabre lije. I had sirt of presumed that the grenadiers carried a version of the year XI sword which was quite straight?
No, no, these are Guards. No need to be scared. Their job is to look pretty.

There is something about troops in bearskins - they always look great.
Roy, I agree that the swords don’t like right for heavy cavalry, I may be able to straighten them a tad - but carefully!

James, they are one of my favourites too, what's not to like about cavalry in bearskins?
Ross, Marcus Hinton appears to have sculpted the originals with sabres for some reason which is unlike him as he was very knowledgeable about such things. I have gently tried to straighten them a bit although the sabres do give a very swashbuckling appearance!
Classic in every sense of the word, Ian! A bit simpler to paint too, I hope, than the rest of the Guard cavalry. Beautifully done, as always.

The blue, black and orange really does make for a striking figure. Very nicely done! Does that give you enough to finish the regiment?
