So here they are, as promised the Hanoverian Field Battalion Verden. The figures are all vintage Hinton Hunt ones mustered from different sources over the last few years, stripped and repainted by me.
I love this 'casual pose' clearly they are far behind the front line. |

Here's your chance to admire the other side of that flag. |
Also hot off the desk is another French General painted to represent Jean-Baptiste Drouet (Comte d'Erlon). With the 110th anniversary of Waterloo rapidly approaching I thought it was about time that this gentleman was represented on my table.

I was surprised to read that d'Erlon did eventually become a marshal although not until 1843 some 22 years after Napoleon's death.

Wonderful figures, beautifully painted.
Willz.
Thanks Willz.
Nicely done, they look super! And the Comte d'Erlon looks suitably dapper. But I don't think the troops are being the least bit casual. I think it's a case of them just not giving a....hoot.
You may be right Bob, if they were casual they’d be wearing t-shirts!
Lovely work Ian - great stuff. The Hanoverians have come up really nicely, and the OPC general is one of my favourite HH classics.
Thanks Tony, I agree that that general is a nice little sculpt!
Simply Scrumptious! It's nice to see a unit in a different, and relaxed, pose for a change - makes them special. Don't feel too sorry for the drummer, he gets paid more and he's only tapping a simple beat with one hand, if that, from what the look of it.
D'Erlon looks pretty smart too - I painted my one of those casting as Reynier to complete the Army of Portugal command together with Ney and Junot under Massena.
Planning anything special for the 110th?
Thanks Rob, nothing planned at the moment but they’ll have to be another Waterloo game at some point in the year!
The Hanoverians are lovely, great looking unit, the red is a lovey shade. Nice addition on the commander front also, lovely figure for the French.
Thanks Donnie, glad you like them.
That has to be han-over-fist one of the nicest regiments I have seen in some time. Love the fife and drum, even if they do have to work!
They are BRILLIANT! D'Erlon ain't too shabby either.
Kind Regards,
Stokes
Thanks David, those redcoats always look nice!
Cheers Stokes!
They look every bit as fine as I expected. Love that flag. Methinks I want an officer at attention, now.
Maybe we should have fewer battles and more parades where opposing armies just compare their dressing...maybe not, though.
Another fine addition to the collection. How will you be rating these troops?
Nigel, if only wars could be replace by fashion parades - smartest side wins!
Matt, I was thinking probably standard ‘B’ rating but perhaps I should read up a bit about them first.
Marvellous work Ian… as always…
The Hanoverians are little gems as is D’Erlon…
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly!
