Let it Snow…

The weather outside is frightful (with 3 inches of snow and still falling thick and fast)
But the fire is so delightful (not lit yet but at least I’ve brought the wood in from the wood store)
And since I’ve no place to go (already been to Sainsbury’s)
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Our back garden - 3 inches of snow and still falling.

A good time to open up the painting desk and take a proper look at the two units of vintage Old Guard foot Chasseurs that Santa brought me. The marching figure is FN/67 Chasseur (marching) and the firing figure is FN/65 Chasseur (firing). It’s great to have these as they seem much harder to come by than the foot Grenadiers.

The Chasseurs differ from the Grenadiers in that the left foot
of the marching figure is forward (right foot Grenadiers) and
the firing figure is leaning forward (whereas the Grenadier is
more upright).
The mounted Colonel appears to be a conversion from the Blucher figure with a head graft from Dorsenne. If it snows for the next 12 weeks I might just get these painted.

Its surprising what Santas elves are able to make.

It my case I got a Dremel to use for hobby related tasks.

That does sound useful Mark!

Cor, that looks cold Ian! Very beautiful though I must admit. We have not seen snow for a few years down here, touch of sleet and that's enough for a softy like me. New arrivals look excellent.

Happy New Year.

Hi Lee, snow is quite a novelty for me too especially after all those years in south Devon! Hopefully I'll toughen up.

Every 50 years or so an absolutely perfect day comes along - enjoy.

Wellnwe had about 5 inches and then a melt, then another pulse of snow.
Looks bad up North, you may have to burn Moscow and withdraw.
Lovely Chasseurs.nYoubare right they are the rarer ones . They will make stunning units..
If you really want to sx up the guard, someone ( was it SHQ?norvKennington) makes a very compatible drum major. ( or is he a chef de musique?)

Paul - yes the Young Guard are coming along, slowly!

Roy - I'm thinking I should cross the Berezina soon as poss!

Great to see the Chasseurs have escaped from the packaging - they look very promising! Your snow is very pretty - a friend of ours is snowed in at Lauder today, in the Borders, but we in the middle don't have a bit of the stuff - the East Lothian Riviera strikes again. Time to sit out on the beach with a pina colada - no - better make that cocoa, and bring my fur mittens.

Happy New Year, mon Général - all the best.

That does sound like a lovely day for the season. I find that much of weather is relative to what you're used to.

A lovely bit of work by Santa's helpers to come up with that lot.

I think John is being a bit pessimistic though, if one can't manage 1 in 50 weeks, surely 1 in 50 months isn't too much to hope for.

Thanks Tony and a Happy New Year to you!

Ross - yes, Santa has come up trumps!

Now that's what I call a New Year's project. What an outstanding find, which couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.
Happy New Year indeed! WM

As always these wouldn't have turned up without the help of others!

A Happy New Year to you WM...
