Grenadier á Cheval

The Horse Grenadiers are done and dusted and I’m very happy with the way they’ve turned out. The figures are:

6 x FN/300 Horse Grenadier Guard (on horse FNH/2)
6 x DK 46/1 Horse Guard Grenadier (one converted to trumpeter)

I think you’ll agree that the height surgery on the DK’s has been successful although obviously they look a little malnourished next to their Hinton Hunt friends.

Unit Histories - just a note to say that I have updated the Unit Histories pages to include the most recent battle honours. If you're bored take a look. I still have more units to add but at least those that are there are now up to date.

  1. A nice meaty looking unit Ian…
I don’t think that the bulk differences between the figures show up too much on the finished unit… and I doubt it will be noticeable during a game…

    All the best. Aly

  6. Nice one, not bored but looked at the unit histories anyway. You really have to create a new one for your cuirassiers after their stellar performance at the Battle of Bournemouth.

  8. Another lovely regiment! The DKs fit in perfectly. I'm curious about one thing, though. Which is why have the HH demountables got extra crossbelts? What have they got supended from it?

  9. Rob, I will put them top of the list.

  11. WM, I didn’t notice it until I started painting the DK’s. There is no extra equipment on the figures so it’s just one of those HH things!

  12. Glorious. Those gleaming black steeds. I hadn’t noticed the cross belt imbalance, but they ‘re not the only HH dismountables with that oddity.

  13. Thanks Nigel, nothing like three coats of gloss varnish to bring out a nice gleam!

  14. You all have sharper eyes than mine to have noticed the differences in girth and especially the extra cross-belt. I would have never picked that out!

A splendid looking Unit Ian - very nicely constructed and painted.
