Tony came over last Saturday and brought with him a box of Hinton Hunt goodies for me. These were mostly figures originally in the Eric Knowles collection that he felt he wouldn't be using himself. There's some really nice stuff including quite a few castings from the 1807-12 French infantry range that has got me thinking about rummaging through the rest of my stash and putting a unit or two together, something I've had in the back of my mind for a while.
| The haul includes 3 x firing voltigeurs (a figure I'd never seen before) and 3 x air guitar voltigeurs - I have to find a use for these! |
Tony didn't just come over to give me gifts but also to try his hand as Longstreet in another game of Fire & Fury - you can see how that went by clicking here.
First though I must complete that Austrian unit that has been waiting on the painting desk since before Christmas.
That was very generous of him, nice lot of command figures (officers, drummers, etc.) included - these are always in short supply. I don't suppose he had any early French in chapeau (bicorne) he didn't want. I could really do with a dozen marching (vertical muskets) or any number advancing so I could do some glory years units.
ReplyDeleteSadly not Rob.
DeleteA nice gift and double nice to come across some new (to you) sculpts.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice gift indeed Norm!
DeleteWhat a gift! You'll have some fun making those into a fighting unit.
ReplyDeleteSimon, nothing quite like rummaging through some HH’s going ‘ooh’ and ‘ahh’…
DeleteIf the air guitar players are the four figures in the fourth row, you could convert them into gunners. There's always a swab or a flare gun lying around to give them.
ReplyDeleteSince they appear to be wearing gorgets and officer's epaulettes, you could pair them with the two officers on the right and slip either a message or a card into their hands.
Those four figures are artillery officers, the air guitarists are three figures front row centre left. I’m thinking they will rank up nicely with the firing ones.
DeleteA splendid gift indeed…
ReplyDeleteIt’s nice to see that you can still come across something new to you…
Of course you will now be looking for a units worth 🤣
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly, I don’t think I’ll ever find a unit’s worth but I have plans for a mixed figure one.
DeleteA nice little haul!
ReplyDeleteMost definitely Matt!
DeleteOoh, very lucky you. A nice generous gift! That is enough drummers to start your own band!
ReplyDeleteDavid, you can never have too many drummers!
