Here is the promised parade of the full Austrian artillery contingent.
 |
| All the guns, limbers, horses and over half the gunners are original Hinton Hunt figures. The remainder of the gunners are very nice DK versions. |
 |
| I completed this second limber using figures Don sent me earlier this year. |
 |
| There are 6 guns, 2 limbers and 24 gunners. |
I aim to have one gun battery for every two infantry units in an army so I'm thinking I will need one further Austrian infantry unit to balance things up but that may have to wait until next year.
Nicely done! I would not want to cross a field with those waiting on the other side. Being an old artillery guy myself, I can't help but imagine those poor guys trying to keep those carriages and limbers clean. I can almost hear the NCOs bellowing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob, yes yellow is probably not the most practical colour!
DeleteBob, that was exactly my thought as well. They look fantastic, but I would have hated to been in charge of the cleaning detail!
DeleteAhhhhh, nothing quite like a large contingent of guns and crews. They look super.
ReplyDeleteKind Sunday Regards,
Stokes
Thanks Stokes, the brown and yellow combination does look good!
DeleteA super display of your Austrian Artillery park, quite superb, pity the poor French that will come up against them!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie, hopefully the French will think twice before taking them on!
DeleteVery nice indeed. On a rather troubled Sunday, your pictures made me feel very peaceful, which is maybe an unusual role for artillery. Thank you - they look great.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tony, glad you like them.
DeleteNice figures, most of my Spanish gunners were Austrian once, but don't think many, if any, were HH originals. Those Frenchies are going to be so sorry if they start anything now, and another infantry unit in the offing - I like your logic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob, the crazy kind of logic of a vintage figure collector!
DeleteThey are magnificent, but what are they doing at stonehenge?
ReplyDeleteThanks Matthew, they’re practicing in an old quarry for safety reasons!
DeleteA splendid sight they are too!
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt I appreciate that!
DeleteVery impressive Ian…
ReplyDeleteAnd certainly colourful.
All the best. Aly
Thanks Aly!
DeleteLook forward to reviewing them... I'm pleased you see the need for more infantry. Clearly, the infantry will need more cavalry to screen them,,,,,
ReplyDeleteNigel you are a bad man…
DeleteAll of that lovely firepower is awe inspiring. Please remind me never to bet against your Austrians!
ReplyDeleteDon’t worry David you’d be fine if I was in charge of dice rolling!
