Painting time has been a bit scarce lately due mainly to
playing the campaign, which has been fun. However, I have just about managed to
finish the 6th Chasseurs and all they need now is another coat of
gloss varnish and then basing before they can take to the field, sadly this
will be a bit too late to help Napoleon out of his current predicament.
I’m please with the way the one-piece-castings have turned out and it was worth the fiddle to reconstruct their plumes. I’m particularly proud of the trumpeter who has had a head swap (with a broken DK French Guard lancer) as well as the addition of the trumpet. I based this one on the picture on the front of the Osprey book on French Chasseurs.
Finally, I’m not the only one recruiting Chasseurs as Roy recently sent me the photo below of the latest recruits to his ever-growing forces. Nice addition Roy.
Beautiful regiment! You really should’ve had these ready for the campaign, line Chasseurs à Cheval are my favourites and lemon yellow my favourite facing colour for them. If they had been fielded my standing orders would have prohibited any and all firing at them.

What’s this about the Emperor’s “predicament”. I thought he was just reviewing his options....congratulations on the regiment. I have oft times toyed with the image of that Osprey trumpeter. Now I need not worry.

ReplyDeleteI have some chasseurs in the dettol right now as it happens. I may do them as the 4th, which would give me yet another yellow trumpeter!

ReplyDeleteMy love of Chasseurs began when I was a school boy and read Marbot and saw the lovely line drawings in H C B Rogers' 'Napoleon's Army' - I particularly like Elite Chasseurs in Colpack.

ReplyDeleteWell somehow the orange coat of my trumpeter for the 15th looks lack luster in comparison to this brilliant rendition. I'll have to talk with the quartermaster and see if he can do something to ramp up the colors in the dye. At least I have the trumpeter of the 5th on deck, so that he too can join the ranks of the yellow clad musicians (in a year or so probably given how it is going...).
