Command post for the emperor

If Wellington has a tree, then in my opinion Napoleon deserves a windmill at least. So, I’ve knocked up this Dapol kit of a windmill (made from the moulds of the original Airfix one).

This model will feature in a game of Muskets & Marshals I hope to be hosting next month (although not as Napoleon's command post!).

  1. I do hope it's not a windy day or the First Empire may come to speedy, if somewhat messy, end.

  4. Good Soldier - nice mode but a bit fiddly to make. I left off the stairs as I thought they would be likey to break in the heat of battle!

  5. It must be the season of the mills (with apologies to Donovan). A super model.

    Best Regards,

  8. Eee, it takes you back. One of these graced my Dad's railway. Good move to remove the Emperor's Stairway to Heaven, though.

  9. Hi IAN- Yes, the old AIRFIX Windmill -now produced by DAPOL is a beaut and certainly well suited to your European Theater. It is a great model. Cheers. KEV.

  10. Thanks for the comments, I'm glad the windmill is a hit even if the miller will have problems accessing it!

  11. Yes but which Hinton Hunt figure would make the best Windy Miller? My choice would be SN51 Spanish muleteer.

  12. I never knew Napoleon had a personal helicopter. So that's how he got home from Moscow.
    Very nicely done, Ian!

  13. Clive, it could work with the addition of a green stuff smock. Mind you, these days there's a whole different connotation to the name 'Trump-ton'- I believe the mayor has authorised the building of a wall to keep out the Smurfs.
