Colberg Musketeers

The Colberg infantry are based and ready for action, not that there’s any prospect of action at the moment but it’s nice to know they can be called upon if Blucher finds himself in a tight spot.


The composition of figure types in this unit is the same as the other line infantry units however they are a 50:50 mixture of Clayton and reproduction figures, the command are all vintage ones.


The Clayton figures posed something of a problem when basing as they are orientated differently on their bases to the other figures. This has meant I’ve had to bend and tweak them a bit to get them to rank up.


This takes my total of painted figures for the year to over 100 which is surprising as I’ve hardly painted any for the last month or so.

    Another worthy addition to the collection. 100 figures is impressive - I doubt I've achieved half that this year (but I have started to pull my finger out this evening).

    Very nice indeed as usual. They look great all together.When you mention reproductions Ian do you mean from a new mould made from a clayton original? They certainly all nice and crisp together :)

    I am doubly impressed. Firstly your Prussians look the business. Secondly that you have reached a 100 figures painted this year. I have painted a mere 71 classic Napoleonics figures so far this year and currently I am re basing an old 28mm ACW collection which has slowed down my painting.

    Lee, these reproductions were made from original HH castings so are closer to the true castings than the Clayton ones. However I like to use Clayton's where I can as they are 'official' Hinton Hunt even though not always of great quality. HH suffered more than most from pirating over the years so although there are some modern reproductions there are also plenty that are 40 or so years old which are sort of vintage in their own right now I guess!

    Mark, I had a very productive period early in the year but this has since slowed down considerably! What make are the ACW figures?

      They are mostly 1st Corps with Old Glory,Dixons,Foundry and few higher odds and ends.

      I did this collection 20 odd years ago and most of these figures are still available today.

    WM, having painted 72 of them I've just about got the hang of them now (actually that's 135 if I count the ones I painted in th 70s)!

      Sure. I am rebasing the first batch of figures. 8 regiments so just short of 200 figures.
