First Prussian Musketeer

I’ve completed a test figure for the first of my Prussian line units PN.3 Private (charging). This unit will have the yellow collar and cuffs of a Silesian Regiment as per the Hinton Hunt painting instruction sheet.

I know this figure well as I prepared and painted around 60 of them in the early 70s. Back then it took me almost as long to remove the flash metal (with one blunt file) as it did to paint them with my limited palette of Humbrol enamels and rather basic paint brushes.

My plan is to churn out three units in this charging pose, each with a different colour of facings. Once done this will complete the infantry element of my Prussian Army.

    Smart and businesslike - lovely job - they'll look terrific in numbers. You should introduce some new order of merit - musketeers distinguishing themselves in battle could qualify for a transfer to the Landwehr. That would inspire the lads!

    He looks very handsome! I painted this same three-battalion regiment using 15mm Minifigs during the summer-fall of 1987. Oddly, they weren't quite as fetching as this gentleman however.

    What Stokes said, on both accounts except only 1/3 of my 15mm Silesians were strip minifigs the rest were Heritage. No where near as nice as these!

    Just green with envy. My favourite Prussian uniform is red collar and cuffs with yellow shoulder straps - see link

    Rob - at the moment I'm thinking Brandenburg, red with sky-blue shoulder straps and maybe Colberg, white with red shoulder staps but I could still be swayed!

    Roy, as I have a full unit of Jager I won't be adding any more. However there is no reason why some might not be temporarily re-assigned!

    Great stuff Ian - I wonder how many years in the 60s/70s I spent cleaning up HH figures when I could have been chasing woman or more importantly painting!
