Guard Marines Command

FN/145 Dragoon Officer (marching) - on the left
WN.10 Polish Officer (charging) - on the right
I’ve painted some command figures for the Guard Marines this week, nothing too taxing as there are only three of them. I don’t have any proper Marine Officers so I’ve had to improvise and use one Duchy of Warsaw figure and one French Dragoon figure as they seem to have the right sort of hat.

The drummer is a bit of a mystery and I can’t remember where he came from. The base has “HH” stamped on it but it’s not a figure from the original range so could possibly be a Clayton variant. It appears to be based on FN/6 Drummer (charging) with an added plume which was just what I need for the Marines. The sky blue uniform will add even more colour to this unit.

Next I need to finish the eagle bearer and then it’ll be on with the final six of the rank and file.

  3. Rob - whether they can fight depends on how I grade them in my rules!

  4. Those are looking great, Ian. I'm a bit mystified by the dragoon officer though. Which figure is that?

  5. Very smart fellows. Is that The Beatles warming up in the background?

  7. This question about figures of in the catalogue is interesting. I have some what look like KGL Hussars (busby with a peak) which I can’t see listed. I have also seen the same figure for sale on eBay. Anyone have any thoughts? It may just be that I haven’t looked hard enough.

  8. WM - yes it is a bit mystifying. The base is clearly stamped FN/145 which is the French Dragoon Officer. It could be a Clayton variant I guess? If it's not Clayton it must be a conversion although this figure itself has not been modified in any way.

  10. The dragoon officers, one marching, ne waving sword, both wore dragoon helmets...which would be utterly inappropriate fot the Marins.
    .
I cannot see the headgear on the figure in the pucture, is it a helmet??

  11. I have a recast marching dragoon and as far as I can see he does not have an officers gorget, the vest looks different and he has cavalry boots that go higher up the leg.

    An interesting mystery

  14. Annymous, the KGL hussar is a real genuine HH figure and very lovely too.mUpdating the catalogue was done infrequently and often by loose leaf sheets so it may well not be mentioned, but he is real and genuine,

  15. LG, Thanks for that. I was pretty sure it was original as I was given it in a pile of hussars by someone who had had them for 40 years. I have a Clayton catalogue but couldn't find it in that
