380 buttons ride by... |
The whole regiment ride dark brown horses - except the trumpeter |
Charging to the right! |
Charging to the left! |
Just charging!!! |
Let's hope this is an advance not a retreat... |
Pure nostalgia - the same unit painted by me 45 years ago and now long gone |
But here they are again restored to their rightful place! |
Super unit Ian, I love you k at it and think we must do Liebertwolkwitz!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere out there are your original Prussians , perhaps in a loft or cupboard, perhaps on a shelf in some old boys wargames room. Will they ever appear? Fancy putting up an orbat for Leipzig?
I'll put together a list of what I've got and send it to you - time we set a date?
ReplyDeleteSimply superb. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWell worth the button effort! Must be an A class unit based on the attention to detail alone!
ReplyDeleteMatt B - thanks for that much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteMatt G - yes of course buttons equate to A class! Possibly I should introduce AA class?
Magnificent stuff!
ReplyDeletefound two Austrian Cuirassiers which makes me up to a second unit of 12 to boost the kaiserlichs. They must be DK as they are rather thinner than my HH ones. However, they will hide in the middle of the unit and make up numbers, so off they go to be painted. Also discovered some Art Miniaturen Austrian High command, big fellows compared to an HH, but they will sit on their own and do look rather imposing. How many Polish units have you got ? I will have two on your basing, maybe three, we need to get to an independent command for your gorgeous Poniatowski.
ReplyDeleteSuperb detailed painting of the Prussians- well done Ian. You must be pleased indeed to have your unit back again. Regards. KEV.
ReplyDeleteFantastic unit Ian, you have certainly nailed that button method as they are all very neatly done, especially with the black outer ring.
ReplyDeleteSee what happens when you leave your nice buildings out in the snow..Your cuirassiers are as magnificent as expected. On the button.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the comments chaps!
ReplyDeleteArchduke - yes I'm not quit sure why I decided to cover them in flour, it seemed like a good idea at the time!
ReplyDeleteNice painted regiment, button-tastic !
ReplyDeleteThanks Allan, I'm a bit buttoned out now I must admit.
ReplyDeleteExcellent work
ReplyDeletePaul
Thanks Paul, it was a bit of a slog but worth it in the end!
ReplyDeleteSuperb work! Suggest you describe the horses as 'dark bay' rather than 'brown', you'll get more 'brownie points' (pun intended) from the horsey community.
ReplyDeleteDark bay it is then - don't want to upset the horsey community!
ReplyDeleteSorry this is late - I've been away!
ReplyDeleteThese chaps are beautiful, Ian - really splendid. Looking at your old photo - is that the same church.....?
Tony - sadly not the same church, this is the mark 2 version.
