More Carabiniers

Not to be outdone by Roy (well of course actually I have been) I’ve managed to increase my own contribution towards Vintage Waterloo by adding a further 6 figures to my existing French Carabinier squadron thereby bringing them up to a full 12 figure regiment.





In total I will be able to add 4 French cavalry units to Roy’s assembled host giving the Emperor a very respectable cavalry arm on the day.

    Superb! Did HH ever make the older carabiniers without cuirass and wearing bicorne? Just remember the old Historex catalogue which was basically a great source for uniforms back in the early 70's.

    I'm venturing a reply to Dave, the experts having remained silent. I don't know when the carabiniers wore bicornes and I don't know of any HH figure that would represent that. Prior to 1810 they wore bearskins, which I think you could depict using the dismountable elite dragoon figure. That would give you a line horse, thus avoiding the guard horse furniture of the horse grenadier figure.

    Lovely unit the carabiniers, though I believe they were mostly kept in a bandbox. In 1815 they are shown in a light blue coat, but the white had a longer period of use. I think the Archduke is spot on with his elite dragoon idea and I just wonder if I have any spare as the idea of them in their blue uniforms is very attractive! Its a pity that HH are not still made! I think the bearskin is the standard wear from revolutionary times until the 1810 uniform with the helmet so there may never have been bicorne carabiniers?
