I’ve made a promising start to proceedings by painting up another French Artillery crew with the aim of bringing that arm of the Army up to strength. The figures are all vintage ones that I have stripped and repainted and just finished this evening – they still need to be varnished.
The figure in focus is FN/33 Line Artillery Gunner (ramming home). I will post another picture in due course when they have been issued with a cannon and try to get them all in focus.

ReplyDeleteClive - I use Foundry 20A Deep Blue, I like to use two coats when painting over a black undercoat.

Rafa - the blue is darker than it appears in the photo, I think its probably a problem with the lighting.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wonder if the French artillery actually sereved their guns with slung muskets? I rather think that it would have been muskets piled , shakos and jackets off and sleeves rolled up.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job on these lads. French blue is represented from very dark to quite light. i expect that it varied as dies were not produced by chemical plants so different batches must have resulted in colours that performed differently in response to rain and sun.
