Just to remind you that a Pomeranian is for life and not just for Christmas. These have been quite a lot of work and I hope you like them.
I really do like painting Prussian infantry as it takes me right back to those early teenage years although these probably look much better than the ones I painted then.
I often forget to show the backs of my figures so this is to prove that I do paint the whole figure.

No, no, no - not that type of Pomeranian! (this image has been shamelessly taken from the internet if I have offended Mr AI I apologise)
The musketeers are all vintage castings generously donated by Ian earlier this year*. The figures have waited patiently for 50 years to have a coat of paint, they are:
21 x PN.5 Private, with separate musket (one converted to standard bearer)
1 x PN.1 Officer, charging
1 x PN.6 Drummer
1 x PN .7 Officer, marching
*the officers were supplied courtesy of Rob.
This has been an exceptional year for this project as the painted Hinton Hunt forces have expanded by 272 figures. This is largely due to the influx of Austrian figures from Don W and the help with renovation works from Goya - a big thank you to both.
Have a good one and see you on the other side...

Like all of your units, these too are a feast for the eyes. Merry Christmas 2025!
ReplyDeleteWarm Seasonal Regards,
Stokes
(Michigan, USA)
Thanks Stokes, and to you too!
DeleteI do like them, they're a super looking unit, the pose is a nice change and also nothing extravagant and the limited palette colour scheme is so smart.
ReplyDeleteGlad those officers came in handy.
Thanks Rob.
DeleteA Merry Christmas to you and yours .
ReplyDeleteThanks GSS and a Merry Christmas to you to.
DeleteBeautiful work on these, and a great result for 2025.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lawrence!
DeleteI like these a lot; definitely marching forward with a glossy serious purpose pose.
ReplyDeleteShudder Mr Frenchie!
Thanks Matt, shudder indeed.
DeleteWoof indeed…
ReplyDeleteThat is a rather disturbing picture 🙀
The toys look splendid …
Merry Christmas old chap..
Aly
And the same to you Aly.
ReplyDeleteAnother fine looking addition. Thanks for this year, i look forward to the next.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your readers,
Stephen
Thanks Stephen, I’ll be surprised if I hit such dizzying heights next year!
DeleteBeautifully painted and great conversion jobs. Hopefully we'll see them in action soon. Best wishes for Xmas and the New Year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Simon.
DeleteI think it's good that you showed the back of the unit since that will be the principal view the French will have of them.
ReplyDeleteAnother handsome unit capping a great year! Happy holidays, Ian!
Bob, I’m hoping that won’t be the case but we’ll see!
DeleteWhat a great way to end the year. Merry Christmas to you! These are wonderfully painted. I can't believe you have picked out the fingers and I love the shading with the wash on the faces. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThanks David, you can probably tell that I really enjoyed painting them!
DeleteSuperb looking regiment, they look great, really nice work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Donnie.
DeleteIan T. here.
ReplyDeleteAfter all the intervening years where I have had these castings simply stored away waiting for the day when I might get around to doing something with them, it is wonderful to see them being "brought to life" in such a skilful way. It's way beyond what I would have managed to achieve and I am glad they have found an appreciative new home. It is also enjoyable to see that they are also being appreciated by others on the blog and that they are going to be put to use on the wargames table where they were always intended to be.
A merry Christmas and Happy New Year all!
Thanks Ian, hopefully they’ll be a few more on the painting table soon.
DeleteGreat looking Pomeranian troops, a wonderful collection, pushes me on with my own, but very tempted by the Austrians.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and thanks for sharing.
Paul
Thanks Paul and Merry Christmas to you! Austrians are very tempting drop me an email if you need any bits or bobs…
DeleteThey are superb, Ian! And what a fantastic year for your blog. Merry Christmas and all the best for 2026
ReplyDeleteThanks Matthew!
DeleteThey look great! I admit, I doubted you - I thought you were just painting the fronts of all your figures. Now, I ask your forgiveness as you've proven me wrong! I must be getting cynical in my old age...
ReplyDelete:)
Hey, did you buy the flag, print it or paint it? I can't tell...
All jokes aside, you collection and your games are inspiring. I have acquired a similar style of Scruby 30s for Am Rev and now just starting on Naps, and when I stumbled on the sale of a bunch of battered 30mm Scruby Naps, i immediately thought of this blog. So you are inspiring people. OTOH, if my wife gets wrathful, I'll have to give her your name and address so she can sort it out with you - I'm not taking any responsibility for what you make me do!
BTW, do you prime black and then paint leaving the lines, or paint and then paint the black lines later?
ECW, the flag is an image I found on the internet and printed then covered with three coats of gloss varnish to stiffen it. If your wife wants to leave a comment I’ll pass it on to my wife so they can compare notes…
DeleteOh, and yes I undercoat in black.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ian, I was wondering how to get the right old-school "feel" for flags. The new ones are "too good" if you know what I mean. OTOH I don't want to do every flag from scratch. I was thinking about getting an outline and painting it in as a sort of "middle ground". I want the flags to look old-school like the figs, I'm sure you understand.
ReplyDeleteI downloaded the flags from an archive of the defunct Warflags site. I like them because they print out looking like the old Revo ones so have a retro appeal rather than the ‘too good’ look.
